6. You Need a Leader, a Crowdpleaser and Identifiable Team Roles

Lets be honest, Tony Stark is the most beloved Avenger. He got the best lines, hes pretty much everyones favourite. And Captain America was a solid leader to guide the group through its rough patches and stand together. Hulk was the reluctant one, Thor was the consultant, and Hawkeye and Black Widow were the soldiers, the liaison between these larger-than-life heroes and us mere mortals, whilst holding their own. Because there are so many egos, and only 8 surviving actors, a group dynamic would benefit The Doctors- give everyone a function and a purpose, so they are not just wheeled in for the sake of it. So lets say Matt Smith as the leader, David Tennant as the familiar Stark-type character, Paul McGann as the anguished Thor-type character who fast becomes the groups most important member, and Christopher Eccleston as the Bruce Banner of the group, seen in a new light and quietly stealing the show from under everyones noses. Then Peter Davison as a Black-Widow-Type character, straight-talking and always in the midst of action; and, say, Sylvester McCoy as the enigmatic, dark character like Hawkeye, but with more screentime and development. This is just a rough blueprint. And this is not to discount The Baker boys, but on a practical level Davison and McCoy are in better shape, and out of the old guard, Davison is the most sprightly and McCoy was short-changed. As was Colin Baker, but this special will give his character time to develop, so maybe he is a Hulk-type character as well. Tom Baker speaks for himself, and would likely become a Stark-type character because he is so well established. But if it were me, Id give a lot of screentime to Colin Baker, McCoy, McGann and Eccleston- all of them never had enough time onscreen, and because of behind-the-scenes politics, didnt develop their character in the direction they wanted, especially the latter two. Which brings me on to my next point
