10 Things We Expect To Happen In The DC Cinematic Universe
5. Doomsday Kills Superman
Henry Cavill's Superman will likely remain the cornerstone of a strong superhero lineup even when the DC Cinematic Universe finally progresses past last year's Man of Steel. The relative newcomer acquitted himself admirably in his first outing as Kal-El, and he'll be one of the only ones not acting to "prove himself" in the sequel. There will almost definitely be more solo Superman films following 2016's team-up, and while the Man of Steel production team can be faulted for a whole host of flaws in the original film, their attention to the comic book mythology can hardly be questioned. Unlike Christopher Nolan, Zack Snyder and David Goyer know their comic books backwards and forwards - and so they definitely know that The Death of Superman is one of the most important arcs in Kal-El's entire history. Sure, it may happen way down the line in the DC Cinematic Universe, but you can bet that it will happen. One of what are arguably the two most important crossover arcs in the modern history of DC Comics - the other being Batman's Knightfall Saga, which happened around the same time - The Death of Superman is already cinematic in scope, and most importantly, it's never been done before in a feature film. Add in Doomsday's Kryptonian roots - which would tie in nicely to the prologue of Man of Steel - and you've got a ready-made blockbuster that has major implications for the shared franchise.
