10 Things In Batman Movies That Make No Sense

8. Batman Wastes Time Making A Flaming Bat Symbol - The Dark Knight Rises

Though The Dark Knight Rises gives Christian Bale's Batman a fitting send-off, it's also full of head-scratching moments, and few more so than the baffling sequence where the Caped Crusader ignites a fiery bat symbol atop the Gotham Bridge.

Shortly after making his impressively speedy return to Gotham, Batman spends clearly several hours of his night painting the bat symbol in gasoline on the bridge, despite being well aware that Bane's (Tom Hardy) neutron bomb is ticking down the hours until it detonates.

There's no conceivable explanation for Batman wasting so much time when the destruction of Gotham is so imminent, not to mention the fact that Bane was executing people while Batman was prepping the stunt.

In particular, Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) was just seconds away from death when Batman conveniently showed up to save him.

Some fans have tried to argue that it was a worthwhile detour for galvanising the city in a hopeful last stand against Bane, or that Batman could've had the symbol prepared long in advance, but both explanations feel like the kind of strains liable to give people hernias.
