10 Things Marvel Wants You To Forget About Daredevil

5. Both Times His Sight Was Healed

The entire gimmick of Daredevil is that he's a hero who turns a perceived weakness into a strength. Matt Murdock was blinded at a young age, his origin story being that he pushed a blind old man out of the way of a speeding truck and, in the ensuing crash, was struck across the eyes with a radioactive isotope. He would never see again, but his other senses were heightened! So, Daredevil can €œsee€ thanks to his super-hearing, sense of smell, all that stuff. Along with being a neat set up, it also provided a rather progressive depiction of a blind hero in an entertainment industry that was more used to the likes of Mr Magoo, and it's sort of integral to the character. Which is why it'd be really stupid to heal his sight. In the sci-fi world of Marvel where people frequently return from the dead, that should be easy, right? But it would also break the character, which is why they haven't done it. Apart from recently, when an evil Iron Man did it without Matt's consent, and a one-off where he regains his sight for a day. Which just seems mean.
