With every movie and every Disney+ show within the MCU, there will usually be something specific that fans know they will see. Whether it is the Infinity Saga’s Stan Lee cameos, post-credit scenes, or awesome action, fans know what they were getting. In some cases, these can even boil down to particular actors and their characters.

One such thread that began with her appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and continued through Civil War, Infinity War, Endgame, WandaVision, and the Multiverse of Madness was Wanda Maximoff’s accent.

As a native of Sokovia, Wanda had a strong Eastern European drawl when she was siding with Ultron in her franchise debut, but over time it seemed to fade away until she was all but completely American throughout the majority of WandaVision.

Though her native accent returned when she set foot outside of the Hex, fans couldn’t help but make comments on the way Elizabeth Olsen brought to life the Scarlet Witch, too often more so than her actual nuance and skill in bringing to life such a powerful yet vulnerable character.
