10 Things That Almost Completely Changed Spider-Man: Far From Home
3. The Restaurant Fight
All of the deleted scenes in the previous entry were brief moments, but there was also a whole action sequence glimpsed in the trailer but deleted from the finished cut of the movie.
In this scene, Peter, still dressed in the Avengers Iron Spider costume, complete with flailing robot arms, takes down the Manfredi crime family in an acrobatic fight in a restaurant, before trading quips with the local police.
The Manfredi family is a reference to Silvio Manfredi (also known as the classic Spider-Man villain Silvermane), something which would have been a nice expansion of the MCU's use of Spidey supporting characters.
Interestingly, Venom also featured a cameo from a Mrs Manfredi (speculated to be a reference to Silvio's comics wife Catherine Manfredi), so this could have been a point where the Sony Spider-Verse and the MCU cross over.
The scene was intended to kick off the movie with some exciting action because, as it is, it takes until the water Elemental fight in Venice before this teen comedy becomes a full-on superhero action flick. But it doesn't really contribute much else to the story in the long run, so you can see why Watts decided to cut it.
Both this and some of the other early deleted scenes are due to be recut as a short for Far From Home's blu-ray release, essentially marking a return of the "One Shots" from the early days of the MCU.
