10 Things That Could Save Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice
8. No Origin Story For Batman
When superhero movies first enjoyed a resurgence around the early 2000's, many casual cinema-goers were unfamiliar with the specifics of comic book properties like Daredevil and the X-Men, so the screenwriters felt obliged to devote huge sections of each films running time to explaining the origins of the central characters. While this may have been boring at times for those already in the know, this approach made plenty of sense on a large commercial scale, as it would have been a grave mistake to assume that all viewers knew the convoluted history of these characters just from their comic book origins. Times are changing though. Comic book movies now dominate multiplexes worldwide and general awareness of where these characters come from has increased tenfold. Despite this though, reboots such as The Amazing Spider-Man and Man of Steel still insist on churning out the same origin stories again and again, tweaking only minor details to maintain interest. Guardians of the Galaxy proved that drawn out expositions are unnecessary, even when introducing more unfamiliar characters and now that Superman's beginnings have been established yet again, it would be foolish of Snyder and his team to devote more than a brief flashback to the origin of Batman. As the Dark Knight is easily one of the most iconic characters in the world and has already starred in numerous films of his own, an in depth explanation of his origin would not only be boring, but could actually offend the majority of audiences who are already overly familiar with the story.
