10 Things The MCU Needs To Do With The Fantastic Four

2. Embrace The Silly

Fantastic Four Impossible Man
Marvel Comics

Fantastic Four is a silly, silly concept, and that's just fine!

The original comics, when they weren't being uncomfortably sexist, retain their charm to this day by wholly embracing the wacky charm of 60's sci-fi. Stan and Jack made one of the most madcap worlds ever seen in comics, and the best runs of the series always have the same thing in common: not being ashamed of their roots.

The main antagonist of this series is named Doctor DOOM, for God's sake. And that isn't even a moniker, it's just his name and doctorate! There's a little green guy named The Impossible Man from planet Pop-Up whose whole character is "what if Pinkie Pie had the powers of a cosmic GOD?" This series has civilizations on the surface of an electron, interdimensional bug people, and the team can suddenly trade out its members for big green muscular lawyers who can only speak in flirt.

The Fantastic Four is kooky, wacky, and downright hokey, and god bless every inch of it from front to back. The cardinal sin of the previous two attempts to bring it to the big screen was that they felt they were too cool for the silly. That is something that cannot be repeated here.
