10 Things You Didn't Know About Avatar
9. James Cameron Has A Cameo
Directors, from Alfred Hitchcock to Quentin Tarantino, have always loved to make cameos in their movies, and James Cameron is no exception. It’s rare to see him in front of the camera, but his voice is a regular feature in his movies and Avatar was no different.
Cameron’s cameo appearances are always very subtly inserted and very easy to miss, and they are often only revealed as part of press interviews for the films release.
Back in 1984 he can be heard as a motel clerk as Micheal Bein and Linda Hamilton check in for the night in The Terminator. In 1986, after struggling to create the right sound for the Alien Queen in Aliens, Cameron took to the mic and his voice is the main part of the fearsome matriarchs scream. He pops up as a pilot’s voice in 1989’s The Abyss.
The scream of the melting T-1000 in Terminator 2 was his again in 199, and his voice appeared again a pilot in True Lies in 1994. He can also be seen as background passenger on the Titanic 1997. Avatar is no different, and again as a pilot (there is a pattern here) he can be heard as one of the Scorpion Gunships pilots during the dramatic attack on Home Tree.
