It's a term most closely associated with a certain school of male actors, with a degree of macho testosterone inherit in the lengths those performers will go to. Like Christian Bale losing an unhealthy amount of weight for The Machinist, or Daniel Day Lewis learning to become an actual cobbler for a role, or Robert De Niro becoming a legit good boxer in preparation for Raging Bull. Apparently Felicity Jones is also a member of that particularly form of method acting, albeit in a less intense way. Before taking on the starring role in the rom-com Chalet Girl, opposite Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick which she took so she wouldn't get typecast in frumpy costumes dramas she decided to do some important research. Along with the two months of snowboarding training that were kind of necessary for her to star as well as get around the set, she took it upon herself to work undercover in an actual chalet at Austrian ski resort St Anton, even going so far as to scrub toilets at the local Krazy Kanguruh bar. So who knows what she'll do to get into her Star Wars character? Fly into space? Cut off her hand with some sort of laser sword? Tell George Lucas were to stuff his poxy script? The possibilities are endless.
