Sadly it seems like Carpenter has stepped away from the directors chair, with his last effort being the disappointing The Ward from 2010. Since then hes been content to stay home watching basketball and playing videogames, but its also given him plenty of time to get back in the recording studio. In 2015 he released his first solo album Lost Themes, which featured original music compositions he recorded at his home studio. It says something about the mans talent that something he did as a creative hobby was considered some of his best musical work, and it was such a hit among fans hes already completed a second album - creatively titled Lost Themes II. The positive response to the album has also spurred him on to perform some live shows of his music. Not bad for a chain-smoking 68-year-old.
