Scarlett Johansson is a staunch supporter of U.S. president Barack Obama and has campaigned for him since before he was elected. However, it resulted in something of an embarrassing moment for her. Having boasted to Politico - an American political journalism organisation - that she had been exchanging emails with the powerful world leader, it turns out that she actually hadn't at all. When Obama was running for presidency in 2008, Johansson said "You'd imagine that someone like the senator, who is constantly traveling and constantly 'on' - how can he return these personal e-mails? But he does." However, Obama later told reporters that she didn't even have his email address and she had merely been in contact with Reggie Love - his personal assistant - who had acted as a middle man in a mere couple of exchanges between the pair.
