1. Allen's Six Favourites Of His Own Work
In an interview with The Times Woody Allen was asked to choose his six favourite films out of his own body of work. Although his work has inspired many directors and writers for decades, as you would expect of his on-screen persona he is quite self-deprecating when it comes to judging his own films, describing his back catalogue as "surprisingly paucity of worthwhile celluloid." As a director it is well known that Allen gained free reign over his films early on in his career, allowing him to recreate his vision as he saw fit. When asked about this during the interview however, he felt that he hadn't used this rare freedom to his advantage, saying-
"I've squandered an opportunity that people would kill for. I have had complete artistic freedom. Other directors don't get that in their lifetime. But I have a very poor record given the opportunities I've had."
