10 Things You Need To Know About Aquaman
4. There Could Be Multiple Villains
Patrick Wilson has signed up to play Ocean Master, Aquaman's villainous half-brother who has his eyes on stealing the Atlantean throne. It's not hard to spot the Loki parallels, but this should a fun role for the Watchmen and The Conjuring star, lack-of-originality aside. There will surely be plenty of opportunities for snarled evil dialogue and fake chumminess, with Wilson's villain bouncing off Momoa's hero throughout.
Also, there's an excellent villainous performer on the cast list, who we are meant to believe is playing a friendly face this time around. Willem Dafoe is set to play Nuidis Vulko, who begins as a mentor to Aquaman in the comics but has been known to turn away from him, splinter off and join a rival underwater civilisation.
Could the former Green Goblin actor secretly be playing a superhero-hating villain once again? It certainly seems like an option, which would stack the stakes against Momoa's Arthur and heighten the third act drama.
