10 Things You Need To Know About Mission Impossible 7

7. There's New Faces...

Mission Impossible Fallout
Marvel Studios

Every fresh Mission: Impossible entry brings a host of new cast members to the table - and having picked up Superman himself, Henry Cavill, from the DC stable for Fallout, the franchise has now effectively ramraided the Marvel catalogue for their latest group of supporting assets.

The first big name out of the blocks was Captain America: The First Avenger and Agent Carter star Hayley Atwell, who was confirmed last September by McQuarrie, while fellow MCU star Pom Klementieff was confirmed to be trading out of the Guardians of the Galaxy to the world of the IMF later that month too.

Atwell's Agent Carter costar Shea Whigham, most recently seen in Joker, was drafted into action in December and shortly after the new year, former X-Men favourite and onetime Batman contender Nicholas Hoult rounded out the confirmed list of new faces. Very little is known about their roles, though Hoult was assumed to be the villain of the piece upon confirmation of his casting.

McQuarrie and Atwell's comments to Light the Fuse have indicated that she may however prove to be up against Hunt in much the same way that Ilsa Faust was in Rogue Nation, with the former describing the character as a "destructive force of nature" that Ethan and his team must contend with. The director has done a sterling job so far in crafting significant agency for one leading female character amid the franchise, so the heat is on to see if he can pull the same trick of depth twice.
