10 Things You Need To Know About The MCU’s Spider-Man

8. His Costume Might Look Like This

That€™s Tom Holland€™s head (sans Ultimate hairstyle) Photoshopped onto an official item of Spider-Man merchandise that online retailer Merchoid has made for Marvel. It isn€™t the official MCU Spidey costume from the movie, but it€™s the closest thing to it that we€™ve seen so far. Marvel gave Merchoid specific instructions regarding the design. This includes what Merchoid calls the €˜messy webbing€™ in the background of the red segments. This isn€™t a tidy garment resembling the work of an experienced Hollywood costume designer, but more handmade and scruffy looking clobber. This befits the idea that Peter makes his own costume. Both the Maguire and Garfield iterations came up with sleek, movie-worthy costumes, but perhaps Holland is a bit less handy with a sewing kit. A messy costume like this would certainly help set him apart from those that came before. It could also help set up Peter€™s arc in Captain America: Civil War. In the Civil War comics, Tony Stark made Peter a new costume with snazzy technical additions including mechanical additional arms that came in handy during fights. Perhaps we€™ll see this as a subplot in the Civil War movie, as Tony€™s way of helping Spidey develop as a hero.
