10 Things You Need To Know About The MCU’s Spider-Man

3. His Secret Identity Is Important

€œI think one of the most interesting things about Peter Parker for us is that he€™s the only person in the MCU now that has a secret identity,€ Tom Holland told Superhero Hype in November 2015. He could be on to something there. The Civil War comics centred on the Superhuman Registration Act €“ a government bill that requested all superheroes to reveal their secret identities, sign up for training, and follow orders from politicians. This wouldn€™t be a massive problem for most MCU heroes, but it€™d be a very big deal for Peter Parker. If he wants to do the €˜right€™ thing and sign up for government support, Peter might have to reveal his true face to the public. In doing so, he€™d essentially paint a target on his back as well as endangering Aunt May and his other loved ones. The MCU has no shortage of supervillains, so Peter unmasking would surely have big ramifications. In the comics, Aunt May ended up getting shot because Peter revealed his face on live TV. This made him realise that maybe government control wasn€™t such a great idea after all. We could well see similar events in the movie, especially since Aunt May definitely has a part to play in Captain America: Civil War (Marisa Tomei has already been cast in the role).
