10 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Monty Python And The Holy Grail
9. The Premiere Was Not A Smooth Run
The Monty Python crew have always been prone to controversy, and this is for many reasons. Their deliberately silly, and frequently blasphemous humour rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. But, what happened at the film's debut at the Cannes festival seems like quite an extreme way to threaten the goofy group of comedians.
At the film's premiere, someone called in a bomb threat, and as such, the theatre's workers had to evacuate the building just after the opening credits. Many members of the audience stated that they believed this was a part of the movie, which is an understandable mistake seeing as the group were known for their deliberate deception of their viewers.
Thankfully no-one was hurt, and this wouldn't even be the last time the group were related to a bomb-threat, as in 2009 a bomb squad were called in to investigate a suspicious item in London, only to find that it was a prop copy of the Holy Hand Grenade.
