10 Things You Won’t Believe Were Cut From Spider-Man Movies

8. The Twin Towers Scene (Spider-Man)

What would have been one of the best scenes shot for the original Spider-Man had to be dropped out of sensitivity following the September 11 attacks in New York.

The sequence in question, which was used in its entirety as one of the movie's earliest trailers, sees Spidey foil a robbery by snaring the bad guys' getaway chopper in a giant web between the World Trade Centre's Twin Towers.

It's unclear whether Sam Raimi and his team were planning to use this footage in the final movie, but the director and Columbia Pictures had to nix it given that it would have evoked a terrible tragedy which occurred the previous year.

The scene itself is one of the finest Spider-Man set pieces of the Tobey Maguire era, and a must-see for any fan who didn't catch the original trailer before it was pulled.
