10 Times An Actor Went On An Insane Streak Of Great Movies

9. Marlon Brando, 1950-1954

The Streak: The Men, A Streetcar Named Desire, Viva Zapata!, Julius Caesar, The Wild One, On The Waterfront. Starting with his very first film role in The Men - which saw he play a paralyzed war vet, a role he prepared for by spending two weeks in a wheelchair with real paraplegics - and ending with his iconic, Oscar winning role as Terry Malloy in On the Waterfront, Marlon Brando went on perhaps the greatest run of acting ever. And not only for the sheer quality of the films he appeared in, but also because, once he was finished, American screen acting would never be the same again. Quite simply, Marlon Brando altered the face of an art form. Streetcar, Zapata, Caesar and Waterfront all garnered Lead Actor Oscar nominations, and The Wild One, while not as revered in terms of overall quality, gave us the famous image of Brando on the motorcycle, as mirrored by Brad Pitt in the previous entry on this list. Brando would again have great runs of films - as in the period 1969-1972, where he gifted us the triptych of Burn!, The Godfather, and Last Tango In Paris - but it's this one that cemented him as the greatest actor of all time. As Roger Ebert said, "Marlon Brando's effect on American acting will still be felt 500 years from now". This list is the main reason for that notion.
