10 Times Comic Book Movies Made Us Cry

3. The Snappening - Avengers: Infinity War

By the time the MCU got around to making Avengers Infinity War, things were looking pretty dire. Though it was exciting to see all of our favorite heroes together in one movie, the almighty power of Thanos seemed to be too much for Earth's mightiest heroes to bear. Fans were expecting a death toll, but absolutely no one was prepared for the snap heard round the world.

Getting exactly what he wanted, Thanos assembles all the Infinity Stones and snaps half of all living creatures out of existence. It's bad enough to see the Mad Titan come out on top, but it struck close to home when we saw half of our favorite heroes fading away in real time. Back on Earth, we get to see Captain America watch Bucky fall to pieces in front of him, while Okoye sees King T'Challa fade away right as he's helping her up.

On the other hand, the real gut punches are reserved for Titan, where we see nearly all of the Guardians fade away to dust, as Doctor Strange explains to Tony that there was no other way to save the universe.

Just when you think it can't get any worse, we see Tom Holland's Spider-Man fight in any way he can to stay alive, only to fade away in Tony Stark's arms. Thanos may have been the most engaging character in Infinity War, but the toll he took on some of our favorite heroes was too much for many mortals to handle.
