10 Times Marvel Movies F*cked Up Character Design

4. Iron Patriot - Iron Man 3

The idea to bring Iron Patriot to Iron Man 3 as a rebranded, PR friendly, War machine was a neat move that not only foreshadowed the Superhero Registration Act of the coming Civil War but also harkened back to the publicity and propaganda sub-plot of The First Avenger. Here was a new star-spangled man with a plan. Two things bother me about the Iron Patriot onscreen though. The first is that the colour scheme has been switched to make the armour more blue than red which, although probably done so as not to clash with the red Iron Man suit, jars with my inner fanboy. The second is that it means we're less likely to see the true Norman Osborn version of the Patriot, formed from the guise of Iron Man and Captain America as a new symbol of heroism to be easily swallowed by the masses whilst he plots his rise to power. That seems a shame. They could have easily renamed the character The Peacekeeper and had the same effect without coopting the Patriot name.
