10 Times Marvel Movies Negatively Influenced The Comics

7. Lacklustre Sequel Events Were Created To Cash-In On Upcoming MCU Projects

This particular issue has only taken shape over the last few years or so, but it does not stop from feeling like a cynical move on Marvel's part on boosting comic sales.

Iconic storylines such as Civil War, the Infinity Gauntlet and Secret Invasion have all received MCU adaptations that either look promising (Secret Invasion) or surpassed their source of inspiration in some ways (Civil War).

Despite this, Marvel has published sequels to these events whose debuts largely coincide with the films' release dates. These sequels feel poorly thought-out, are unable to justify their existence, and end up leaving the characters involved in a worse place than before.

Civil War Part II is particularly egregious for this. The themes never reach their potential, characters such as Iron Man and Captain Marvel are deeply unlikable, and the deaths of characters such as War Machine and Hulk are the worst kind of shock value.

Hopefully, Marvel has learnt from this trend and will not release a lacklustre Kang Dynasty Part 2 or Secret Wars 3 following the stories' big screen debuts.
