10 Times MCU Movies Missed Out Key Plot Points

Not all missing plot points are from the source material. Every so often Marvel Studios set up their own storylines only to completely forget about them by the next movie. Be it Sam Sterns turning into The Leader at the end of Incredible Hulk to the Nova Corps, not everything Marvel sets up pays off in the end.

HYDRA may have been exposed and brought down alongside S.H.I.E.L.D in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but in Ant-Man a HYDRA agent manages to escape Cross Industries with the Yellowjacket formula. This means that although the focus has shifted away from the Nazi splinter group, they are still operating a covert operation. Not only that, they have a working replica of the Pym Particle.

With HYDRA's science background, there are countless possibilities for how it could be used as they rebuild their weapon cache. It also meant they already had a few years to regroup before the auction for the particle. They were ready to pay millions in the auction so there was already a plan that required the technology. There's slim chance the organisation haven't put it to use but where are they?

It is possible that the upcoming Falcon and Winter Soilder sheds light on this omission. A third Ant-Man film is on the cards, giving another opening for an explanation on just what HYDRA have been up to while the Earth's Mightiest Heroes and S.H.E.I.L.D have been busy with off world threats.
