10 Times Star Wars Gave Fans What Wanted (and They Hated It)
4. More Boba Fett
Boba Fett proves that some characters work best when they're not in the spotlight. The legendary bounty hunter had little to do in the original trilogy but did just enough to come across as a total badass. Even though Boba had a colossal fan base, it didn't seem feasible for him to return since he seemingly perished in Return of the Jedi.
But the higher ups at Disney couldn't help reviving the character anyway, and stuffing him into The Mandalorian. To the show's credit, Boba doesn't appear often, actually feels like a three-dimensional human being for once, and still has moments where he kicks some ass. If this was all we saw of Temuera Morrison's character, it would've been fine.
Instead, Disney couldn't help themselves, and released a continuation series called The Book of Boba Fett. Despite the fact the show was let down by a weak script, sluggish pacing, and dreadful performances, the biggest problem is Boba himself. To make Boba more of a traditional protagonist, his heartless exploits were toned down, and he was turned into a sympathetic figure.
But that's not what we wanted. We loved Boba because he was a ruthless mercenary. We wouldn't want to see The Emperor or Jabba as a good guy, so why did the writers think this change of direction would benefit the character?
