Though it wasn’t as originally intended, WandaVision kicked off both Phase Four of the MCU and the franchise’s foray into the world of Disney+, and it was a huge success. However, thanks to a combination of 18 months with no Marvel content, the nature of the show, and the weekly release format, there were more fan theories for this property than any before it.

Many of these centered around Mephisto, which was an example of fans reading into things that may not have been there. However, Marvel Studios fueled the introduction of the X-Men, and in particular Quicksilver, by bringing in Evan Peters to play Pietro.

Peters, of course, played the character in Fox’s X-Men universe, and so his casting understandably got fans thinking what it could mean. Excitement went through the roof for this groundbreaking landmark in the MCU, but in the end, this meant just as little as any Mephisto theory.

Instead of Peters playing another version of Wanda’s brother from another universe, he was simply a guy named Ralph Bohner who Agatha Harkness used to manipulate her new neighbour. Marvel literally got everyone’s hopes sky high all for the sake of a boner joke.
