10 Times The MCU Betrayed Your Trust
5. Crossbones (Captain America: Civil War)
As much of a problem as villains have been throughout the MCU, the franchise seems to have made big strides over the last few years. However, while the main antagonists are typically stronger these days, the MCU still struggles with its secondary villains. One such character was Brock Rumlow.
After a supporting role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, he was confirmed to be returning in Civil War as the version of himself everyone wanted to see, Crossbones.
The badass villain from the comics had the potential to cause Cap real problems, and fans everywhere were excited to see it. Keep in mind that there were rumours of Steve Rogers’ time coming to an end in the MCU, and with Civil War preceding the Death of Captain America story in the comics, in which the Star Spangled Man is killed by Crossbones, this could have been something special. However, Marvel Studios took that excitement and threw it out the window.
Crossbones looked incredible, and was a force to be reckoned with in the several minutes of screen time he had, however he was almost immediately killed without making any impact on the movie. He was essentially only brought back as a means for Wanda to make her mistake, leading to the Accords. What a let down.
