10 Times The MCU Completely Transformed Actors' Careers
7. Chris Evans - From Irritant To Icon
From one Chris to another, Chris Evans didn't have the smoothest start to his superhero career.
The above clip is taken from 2005's risible Fantastic Four movie (as opposed to 2015's FF flick, which was excerable). Evans tries his best with what he's given but is incapable of salvaging the movie from its shoddy writing and corporate attempts at "attitude". As such, it's safe to say more than a few eyebrows were raised when Chris Evans was given the role of Captain America. Could the smug, irritating Johnny Storm really transition into the noble, heroic Steve Rogers?
Yes. A thousand times yes. The bigwigs at Disney Studios obviously knew what they were doing when they placed their faith in Evans, and he rewarded them and us with a pitch-perfect portrayal of Steve Rogers - a man of integrity struggling to find his place in a world that has seemingly moved past him.
Never the flashiest character in the MCU Chris Evans' Captain America was nevertheless the moral backbone of the franchise for nearly a decade, and has ensured the actor's prior foray into the superhero genre is remembered as a mis-step rather than a career-killer. (If that sounds overly dramatic, ask yourself what happened to the other cast members of the Fantastic Four).
