10 Times The MCU Gave Fans EXACTLY What They Wanted

7. The OG Avengers Team-Up - The Avengers

It may seem positively quaint by today's standards, but back in 2012 the prospect of seeing Iron Man, Cap, Thor, The Hulk, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) teaming up together on-screen was a mind-blowing dream come true.

And so, it's impossible to overstate the iconic appeal of the moment during the Battle of New York when the Avengers fully assemble for the first time, mounting up to take on the invading Chitauri.

The camera performs a 360 degree pan around the six Avengers as they pose and basically look supremely badass. For even the most casual comic book fan, this made them feel like a kid again, and for kids, it created a formative movie memory.

It would've been so easy for The Avengers to screw things up and be a big 'ol mess, but Joss Whedon knew exactly what the movie needed to be, and moments like this prove it so well.

Some fans were disappointed that Cap didn't say "Avengers, assemble!," but a few years later he got the opportunity on a much more epic scale - as we'll get to later.
