4. John Travolta
What He Was Doing Ten Years Ago: Failing to recover from Battlefield Earth. After suffering a fall from grace once, you wouldnt expect John Travolta to make the same mistake twice. But he did, brilliantly. After Pulp Fiction showed a side to him Grease and Saturday Night Fever (for good reason) hid things looked up. Then he made Battlefield Earth and everything crumbled. All hopes of a promising career were crushed and Travolta was confined to crappy action roles. Many actors give a lot of money to the Church Of Scientology. Travolta gave them his career.
What Hes Doing Now: Failing to recover from Battlefield Earth. Cant knock a guy for trying, but Travolta didnt give up. He continued to do a mixture of gruff action roles, attempted dramatic acting and Hairspray. Admittedly his output has decreased recently, but theres still that distinct, desperate attempt to capture his former glory. Savages was clearly an attempt to work with a proper director (despite Oliver Stone also being stagnant for the past ten years) and these faceless action films are a clear show hes desperate. Travolta stars next in Killing Season alongside Robert De Niro, who missed an entry on this list only thanks to Silver Linings Playbook.
