10 Trailers That Tease Missing Scenes In Superhero Movies
3. Batman Forever - If The Bat Wants To Play...
Batman Forever probably wouldn't have been a great movie if it had arrived on screens as Joel Schumacher and his creative team had intended, free of studio interference, but it would have been a better one.
No less than 38 minutes were deleted from the Caped Crusader's third cinematic outing, and much of that footage would have darkened the tone, added more depth to the characters, and generally made it more Tim Burton-esque.
Some of what was cut was inconsequential, like Tommy Lee Jones yelling "If the Bat wants to play, we'll play" during that helicopter sequence. This line featured prominently in the trailers, but the scene it belongs to was stripped down in the movie.
The best deleted scenes from the film ended up being included with the home media release. One sees Bruce Wayne encounter a giant bat while having a vision in the depths of the Batcave, and there's also a much darker intro that takes place at Arkham Asylum, in which Two-Face murders two guards while escaping from the facility.
