10 Unbelievable Sports Stories Hollywood Should Turn Into Movies

1. Disco Demolition Night

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1CP1751wJA Pitch: Dazed And Confused meets Major League In the late 1970s the two most popular forms of music in the U.S. were disco and rock, and most rock fans hated disco music. With a losing team and sagging attendance in 1979, the owner of the Chicago White Sox turned to wild promotions in order to draw fans. Chicago rock disc jockey Steve Dahl organised Disco Demolition Night on a night when the White Sox played two games against the Detroit Tigers. Fans were asked to bring disco records to the stadium, which would be blown up by a controlled explosion between the two games. Over 50,000 people showed up at the stadium and thousands more continued to pour in when overwhelmed security couldn't stop them. Fans were rowdy during the first game, tossing records, beer bottles, and firecrackers onto the field. Dahl took the field afterwards in combat gear to blow up the records and ended up creating a hole in the field. Thousands of celebrating fans €“ including future acting star Michael Clarke Duncan €“ rushed the field. Some started a bonfire on the field, and the revellers didn€™t disperse until Chicago police arrived in riot gear. The White Sox had to forfeit the second game because of the condition of the field. Not only would the background of Disco Demolition Night make an interesting movie, but the event itself would be a great setting for a movie about a group of partying teenagers. It€™s like Woodstock, but with explosions and baseball. What€™s not to like? What's the craziest sports story of all time, and would it make a great movie? Tell us your thoughts in the comments!
