10 Uncomfortable Truths Movies Force You To Confront

7. People Are Stupid

0 Movies tell us that human beings are fundamentally idiotic in a two-pronged manner; firstly, while some might argue that we're maddenningly complex individuals capable of incredible things, a better way to put it is that we're inconsistent, erratic and unsure of what we actually want out of life. Movie characters, however, tend to be a lot more straight-forward, yet understandable; there's a clear A-to-B trajectory of most characters in films, an almost idealised wave of logic that is completely defied in real life. In reality, we act impulsively, dither about things and over-complicate scenarios with our over-analytical minds. Simply, we'd be a lot smarter by thinking a little less. The other side of this argument relates to general cinema audiences; there's a reason that movies like Meet the Spartans, Epic Movie, Keith Lemon: The Film and Movie 43 make money, and that's because people consistently turn up to watch the brain-dead antics, making some studio bigwigs even richer as they do. Stupid films exist because people are stupid; they are holding a mirror up to at least a section of our society.
