10 Under The Radar Horror Movies Coming In 2016
2. Baskin
Any movie that can be summarised as The Raid meets Hellraiser sounds like a good romp, and that’s an apt description for Turkish bloodbath Baskin. The simple plot setup has a group of cops respond to a request for backup at an abandoned police station, and that’s when things to go hell.Like the literal Hell.
Baskin has been steadily building a fanbase after being shown at various festivals, and the movie looks like Dario Argento and John Carpenter had some kind of horrific baby together. The visuals are gorgeous, and the movie is said to test the mettle of even the most jaded horror fan out there.
It’s been awhile since the genre had a throwback to the type of nightmarish fuel popularised by the likes of Lucio Fulci or Argento, and if Baskin lives up to the hype it could help kickstart a mini-revival of that type of nasty – but weirdly beautiful – horror movie.
