10 Underrated Acting Performances By Athletes In Movies
7. Andre The Giant - The Princess Bride
The Princess Bride has achieved cult status since it's release in 1987 and the late Andre The Giant's performance contributed to that in no small way.
During production, 7 foot tall professional wrestler Andre the Giant let out a fart so long and loud during filming of The Princess Bride that it completely halted production. When asked if he was alright by the director Rob Reiner he replied by saying "I am now, boss.".
This story perfectly encapsulates the level of humour and comedy timing that Andre The Giant wasn't known for until his appearance in this film. Andre plays the role of Fezzik, a giant (a bit type cast if you ask me) from Greenland who is the henchman of evil kidnapper Vizzini. The dialogue between the frustrated Vizzini and haplessly unassuming Fezzik is truly wonderful and Andre delivers some of the biggest laughs in the film.
Considering the acting talent in this film such as Peter Falk, Mandy Patinkin and Wallace Shawn, Andre could hold his head up high (very high) to say he was not outshone by his impressive co-stars. Anybody want a peanut?
