10 Underrated Acting Performances By Athletes In Movies

5. Mike Tyson - The Hangover

Singing, air drumming, tigers and violence. No I am not talking about Joe Exotic or that b**** Carole Baskin, I am referring to Mike Tyson's performance in hit 2009 comedy film The Hangover.

Tyson is introduced in the film just as the three main protagonists stumble back to their hotel room after trying to piece together the events from the previous night. Instead of answers they find the former heavyweight champion enjoying a sing-a-long to Phil Collins' In The Air Tonight. This scene quite literally packs a punch as Mike reminds us why he was once crowned heavyweight champion of the world by flooring Alan (played by Zach Galifianakis) with a single punch, turning the atmosphere somewhat sour.

Despite admitting to being high on cocaine during the filming of these scenes, Tyson delivers a wonderful performance as he goes from friendly karaoke enthusiast, to psychotic interrogator in the blink of an eye to get the main characters to recover his stolen pet tiger.

I see my role at WhatCulture the same way my wife sees my role as a lover: I contribute in a very small way, my presence is barely noticeable and I’m not entirely sure if the laughter is at me or with me.
