10 Underrated Action Movies That Didn't Deserve To Bomb At The Box Office
7. Haywire
Steven Soderbergh has built his entire career on refusing to be pigeonholed in any one genre, and despite trying his hand at many things over the years with varying levels of success, Haywire has left fans hoping that he'll eventually make a return to the realm of the action movie.
Having proved adept at drama, biopics, thrillers, glossy heist movies, sci-fi, comedy and horror, Haywire only marked another string on a bow that must surely be running out of space by now. While Gina Carano isn't the most naturally gifted actress by any means, she wasn't exactly hired for her dramatic chops.
The former MMA fighter excels in the fight scenes, adding a layer of legitimacy that you don't often see in these kinds of movies as she barrels her way through a star-studded supporting cast that includes Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Channing Tatum, Antonio Banderas and Michael Fassbender.
Haywire only cost a relatively thrifty $23m, but still managed to bomb at the box office after earning just $33.4m, which is a real shame for yet another sterling example of Soderbergh's incredible versatility.
