10 Underrated Action Movies That Didn't Deserve To Bomb At The Box Office

The first of many action movies that saw Dwayne Johnson star as a khaki-wearing a**-kicker, The Rundown marked one of the wrestler-turned-actor's first major roles, and even though he's now one of the biggest and most popular names in the business, it still remains one of his very best.

If The Rundown had been released a decade later when the man formerly known as The Rock had firmly established himself as a box office draw, then success would have been virtually guaranteed. However, an $85m action blockbuster headlined by an unproven actor tackling just his second lead performance didn't fare so well at the time, and failed to even earn back the budget in theaters.

Johnson's effortless charisma and obvious star power are a hint of what's to come in his future as he generates plenty of chemistry alongside a less irritating than usual Seann William Scott, with the added bonus of Christopher Walken going full Walken thrown in for good measure.

A smarter than usual buddy movie that makes the most of the unique locations and maximizes the potential for the action scenes that come with it, fans of The Rundown still haven't given up hope that Johnson will one day use his self-appointed title of 'Franchise Viagra' to will a sequel into existence.
