Like the previously mentioned Banks and Simmons, Chris Cooper has made an appearance in the Spider-Man universe, but youd be forgiven for not noticing. Cooper was given the thankless task of playing the bedridden Norman Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and although deleted scenes suggest he was supposed to get more screen time, all concerned should regret not making more use of this gifted supporting player. Cooper has been working steadily for over thirty years, but it was his performance as Colonel Fitts in American Beauty that would earmark him as an actor worth keeping an eye on. Although Sam Mendes 1999 modern classic dominated the awards season that year Cooper was largely overlooked, but he would soon find himself vying for major honours. As charismatic orchid thief John Laroche in Spike Jonzes brilliant Adaptation, Cooper upstaged Meryl Streep and Nicolas Cage to take home the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, and the actor typically elevates every film he appears in. His performances in Me, Myself & Irene and The Muppets proved Cooper has comedy chops, but hes best known for the gravitas he brought to The Bourne Identity, The Company Men, The Town and numerous other films. Seeing his name in the credits is always a welcome bonus, and his talents are worthy of greater recognition.
I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
