10 Underrated Horror Movie Remakes

5. Black Christmas (2006)

The original Black Christmas is a cherished hidden gem from the '70s that was for a long time one of the only Christmas themed horror films around. It was an unsettling experience as it remains a rather realistic take on a stalker preying on a sorority house, with chilling phone-calls and tension-filled murders.

The 2006 remake could not have been any more different, having nothing resembling scares and throwing almost all logic out the window. This film goes into the background of the now yellow-skinned serial killer, and the plot is hilariously poor at trying to shock the viewer.

Seeing a man make angel cookies out of his mother's flesh while a yuletide jingle innocently plays in the background is so ridiculously over the top you have to laugh. It has plenty of gore for the viewers looking for it, but the real joy is in just how stupid and mad the plot twists become.

It's also a very Christmassy film that makes other Crimbo themed movies look like scrooges. Bright Christmas lights dominate most of the cinematography, candy canes and ice skates are used as weapons and the soundtrack is filled with festive jingles.

It's an incredibly fast-paced and fun ride, and if you shut off your brain and take the film as it is, this is a good flick to grab a bag of popcorn and laugh at the sheer madness that erupts onscreen.

It fits right into the so bad its good category.
