3. The Rezort
What's It About? After re-gaining control of the planet following a near-apocalyptic zombie outbreak, humans have trapped the remaining undead on an island dubbed 'The Rezort', a zombie safari where visitors can shoot the brain-hungry monsters for sport.
That is, until the security fails...
Why You Should Watch It: The best way to describe The Rezort is 'Jurassic Park with zombies', and that alone should be enough to get you on-board.
There's the luxurious island retreat, the unorthodox safari, the failing of the security system which subsequently unleashes the beasts, and even the vehicles used by The Rezort to ferry guests to the shooting locations look like Jurassic Park's jeeps - complete with the same red colour.
Of course, both films have vastly different budgets, but despite its smaller scale, The Rezort looks stunning; lush tropical greenery is finely contrasted with grey metal structures, a subtle visual showcase of both the island's idyllic and dangerous traits.
One big, brilliant way in which The Rezort differs itself from most other mindless zombie actioners out there is the way it actually makes you feel sorry for the undead. We see them all chained up, utterly helpless as dozens and dozens of bullets shred them to pieces, and this, combined with a third-act revelation about the true nature of the island, makes you oddly sympathetic toward them.
And then there's all the usual gore, blood and guts, complete with some genuinely terrifying creature design - a visit to The Rezort is highly recommended.
