10 Underrated Horror Movies You Should Watch This Halloween
1. Imprint
Although this film may be short, it certainly packs a punch in the time it has.
Imprint is another title from Takashi Miike. It played as the final episode of Masters of Horror season one and was horrific enough that the network refused to air it. Anyone who has watched the film would understand why. Miike's gory tendencies are full to the max here and the freedom he has to explore his twisted mind comes out to play in this horrific hour-long film.
The story centres around an American man who visits a brothel in Japan looking for a sex-worker that he fell in love with named Komono. Although unsuccessful he does strike up an evenings conversation with a disfigured but kind girl. They end up discussing what happened to Komono, and eventually a dark secret is revealed.
The film does not end where it begins. It continually throws curveballs at the audience and makes it evident that the narrator of the story is entirely unreliable. We discover lies and deceit and nothing ends up being what it seems.
In addition to the compelling plot, there is a hauntingly disturbing scene that is likely entirely responsible for the film being banned from cable.
It is an incredible journey of discovery and twisted imagery that will leave you haunted for all of Halloween.
