10 Underseen Vampire Movies To Fill The True Blood Hole In Your Life
9. Byzantium
The lesser known of Neil Jordan's vampire films but by far the superior, Byzantium sees Gemma Arterton and Saorsie Ronan as a mother/daughter vampire team who put down roots in an run-down English seaside town and set up a brothel. Through flashbacks we see how the pair came to be in such dire circumstances and learn of the many tragedies they've both been beset by and inflicted on others, while Ronan's conflicted teen struggles with the urge to escape her overprotective mother and start her own life. Byzantium is by turns atmospherically terrifying, naively sweet and utterly enthralling, the two lead performances from Arterton and Ronan offering fresh twists on familiar themes, and results in one of the finest modern vampire films of the century so far.
