10 Universally Disliked Blockbusters (That Really Aren’t That Bad)
5. Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengence
Nic Cage’s movie star days seem to be over, with his hammy acting increasingly appearing in straight to DVD schlock even his fans are avoiding. It'd be easy to place some of the blame at Spirit Of Vengeance, his last swing at leading a big budget comic movie, but it already had an uphill battle overcoming the stink of the awful first movie.
While critics and fans slammed the sequel, they’re really missing out on the fun. The movie is utterly unhinged - helmed by the directors of Crank, they give it a crazed style of its own. The story is a lazy repeat of Terminator 2, but they just use it to frame crazy action like the mine scene or let Nic do his wildest overacting; not to mention the moment the Rider pees fire.
Spirit Of Vengeance is essentially a live action cartoon, intent on delivering the most demented comic book movie ever made. The biggest problem is the PG-13 rating holding it back, but if you go along for the ride you won't be bored.
