10 Universally Disliked Blockbusters (That Really Aren’t That Bad)
4. Ghostbusters II
The conversation around the new Ghostbusters has gotten so toxic it’s near impossible to have a civilised discussion about it online. However that movie pans out, it seems a lot of people are trying to defend the reboot by claiming Ghostbusters II was terrible, and the new one looks way better. Hmmm - let’s examine that for a second.
Ghostbusters II is noticeably weaker than the original; it repeats the story with minor tweaks, the freshness is gone and there’s a lot of silly !*$%. That said the cast is still great together, with Bill Murray being a sardonic delight. Vigo The Carpathian makes for a creepy villain, it has some quality gags and the abandoned train tunnel sequence is pretty terrifying for a family comedy.
It may not live up to the standard set by the original, and a lot of critics like to dump on it (including Bill Murray) but it’s not nearly the car wreck people claim.
