10 Unlucky Movie Characters Who Didn't Deserve To Die

8. Star Wars - Uncle Owen & Aunt Beru

Luke Skywalker's circumstances before running into Old Ben Kenobi play out like a Witness Protection gig.

He’s completely unaware of his lineage, and has no what really happened to his parents. This secret is kept at bay, primarily by the unspoken bond between Obi-Wan and the Lars’...but mainly it’s the Lars'.

These were just two moisture farmers in the desert of some nowhere planet, and one day they’re given a baby to look after and keep the story a secret. What sucks even more is Luke is initially desperate to join the very federation that wants him dead, and all the while his aunt and uncle have to stay silent in case they let slip he’s the son of an emotionless robot-enforcer for their tyrannical emperor.

So when Beru and Owen are BURNT ALIVE BY STORMTROOPERS, it’s concerning that Luke mourns them only for a moment and then moves on.

In Luke’s eyes these are the only family he’s ever known and he cares more for the death of Old Ben Kenobi; a creepy wizard he’s only been a little bit aware of, than the very people who raised him since birth (probably reluctantly as well).

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
