10 Unmade Guillermo Del Toro Projects That Look Awesome
3. Silent Hills
The most recent of del Toro's abandoned projects might also be the most high-profile. The news that horror master Guillermo del Toro was teaming with weirdo video maverick Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear series, to make a new Silent Hill title was obviously met with rapturous delight by fans, followed by a sense of dread. Because the finished game would surely be terrifying. In fact, the duo gave players a sneak-preview of what was to come in PT, the game's playable teaser which remains the only piece of Silent Hills left in existence. And it remains absolutely nightmarish, in a typically del Toro way, with an impending sense of dread sometimes broken by a good old fashioned, haunted house-style jump scare. Factor in The Walking Dead heartthrob Norman Reedus providing a motion capture performance, making him the "star" of the game, and Silent Hills looked like a done deal. Except then Kojima fell out with Konami, and the developer began to fall apart, and del Toro was forced to admit his second foray into video games had been consigned to the scrap heap as well.
