3. Die Hard II (1990)

For me, the reason why the original Die Hard was such a hit was because of the feel of it. John McClane (Bruce Willis) was no 80s action hero like Steven Seagal and Jean Claude Van Damme. Instead, Die Hard felt like a film that was about a man who had to make the best of a bad situation. With McClane's background as a police officer, the action was mostly believable considering the situation he was in and McClane always seemed like he was fighting against insurmountable odds. Die Hard II essentially becomes closer to a Seagal or Van Damme flick. Grossing $240,031,094 worldwide, it was a success that spawned further sequels. But Die Hard II and every Die Hard was nowhere near the quality of the first, in my opinion. It has some of the most ridiculous death scenes in film history, gradually becoming sillier and sillier as the film goes on. It's so bad, that you can almost see the point where McClane goes from a normal human being to an "ACTION HERO!". Also, by this point, Holly McClane should just stay home permenantly. On second thought, though, maybe some terrorists will hold her hostage there too.
