10 Unreasonably Annoying Moments In Recent Movies
6. A Pretty Tame Deep, Dark Secret - Inside Out 2
Things have been a little rough for Disney Pixar over recent years, with a run that has struggled to make either critical or commercial waves since the release of Toy Story 4 in 2019. The sole exception to this however, is Inside Out 2.
Releasing in 2024, the sequel was easily the studio's best in years, and in earning $1.6 billion at the global box office became Pixar's highest grossing film of all time. There's not much to criticise when it comes to Inside Out 2, although its post-credit scene did miss the mark.
Earlier in the story, while Riley's (Kensington Tallman) emotions were locked inside her memory vault, they met her deep, dark secret. It wasn't explained exactly what said secret was until the post-credit scene, in which it was confirmed that Riley burned a hole in the rug.
It's an underwhelming and annoying reveal, coming as a real anti-climax after having waited until the very end of the credits. The film even acknowledges this through Joy (Amy Poehler) herself. There were plenty of other directions the story could have taken with this secret, and though it does ultimately reflect that a young Riley likely would have thought something as mundane as a hole in the rug was the worst thing imaginable, this moment could have been something far bigger and better.
