10 Unreleased Movie Cuts We Want To See After The Snyder Cut
2. Suicide Squad: The Ayer Cut
It surely can't be a coincidence that almost as soon as the Snyder Cut of Justice League was officially confirmed to be happening, Suicide Squad director David Ayer started talking more and more about his original plans for the movie on social media.
The filmmaker hasn't been shy in admitting that the version of the antihero ensemble that hit theaters was nothing like the pitch he'd made that got him the job in the first place, and now that the DCEU has shown a willingness to return to their own well, the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad is getting more and more likely by the day.
With all of the required footage already in the can, all the Ayer Cut would need to become a reality is some visual effects work, and it might even be able to convince people that casting Jared Leto as the Joker wasn't a complete and utter waste of time.
The director has already admitted that the vast majority of Leto's performance was left on the cutting room floor, while his relationship with Harley Quinn was also largely abandoned as Warner Bros. demanded the movie he'd initially pitched as a tragic character study with questions of morality and shades of grey be retrofitted as a needle-dropping and more upbeat romp full of one-liners and famous songs.
